Two men were detained after a "likely accidental" shooting Tuesday in Walnut Hills, police said. A man was hospitalized after being shot in the stomach.

Police discovered a man with a gunshot wound after responding to Walnut Hills just after 8 p.m. Tuesday, Cincinnati police Sgt. Jeff Howell said.

Authorities were called to an apartment in the 2600 block of Victory Parkway for a shooting and found a man shot in the stomach inside, police said.

The victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center and was still in surgery at 10 p.m., authorities said.

Howell reported that two other men were in the apartment with the victim when they arrived.

"It's very possible it was an accidental shooting," he said.

The two other men were detained by police for questioning. It is unclear if they will face any charges.

Police are not searching for any other suspects. The identity of the victim has not been released.
