CLEVELAND -- Reds ace Johnny Cueto will miss his start Sunday with elbow soreness. Raisel Iglesias will start instead.

"He pitched in Kansas City without any trouble," Reds manager Bryan Price said. "In the days following — every pitcher as a starter is going to have some general stiffness and soreness — his has been lingering a little longer. He's our workhorse. He probably could pitch tomorrow if we had to have him. But we don't.

"We've got alternatives. We've been carrying Iglesias and (Michael) Lorenzen in our bullpen. They're inevitably going to be back in the starting rotation. We can plug Raisel in tomorrow and make sure Johnny has adequate rest."

Price could not say when Cueto will be back.

"It's kind of TBA, day-by-day," Price said. "We're not going to slot back into a spot until we know he's feeling good and is back to normal. It's not going to necessitate an extended bullpen or anything.

"All we have to do is have him out there playing catch and know he's back to normal. More than anything it's probably fatigue. We can plug him in whenever we feel he's ready."

Cueto leads the majors in innings pitched with 65 1/3. He led the majors last year with 243 2/3 innings pitched.
