Todd Frazier just 63K votes behind in All-Star voting

Todd Frazier has closed to within just 62,980 votes of Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter for the starting spot at third base in the 2015 All-Star Game.

The final voting update was released on Monday in anticipation of All-Star voting ending Thursday at 11:59 p.m. Fans can vote at MLB.com up to 35 times in a day.

Frazier trailed by more than 2.5 million votes just two weeks ago and has since closed the gap as the end of voting draws closer. Starters will be revealed on Sunday night with reserves announced the next day.

Frazier currently has 6,189,347 votes, trailing Carpenter's 6,252,327. Cubs rookie Kris Bryant is third with 3,559,446.

The Reds have five other players among the leaders, which are the top five at every infield position and top 15 at the three outfield positions.

Joey Votto is third among first basemen, but nearly 4 million votes behind leader Paul Goldschmidt of the Diamondbacks. Brandon Phillips is third at second base, but more than 3 million behind leader of Dee Gordon of the Marlins. Although Zack Cozart is out for the season with a knee injury, he is still fifth among shortstops. St. Louis' Jhonny Peralta leads by nearly 3 million votes over the Giants' Brandon Crawford.

Jay Bruce is ninth among outfielders with 2,397,019 votes, and Billy Hamilton is 10th with 2,250,693 votes.

In the American League, the Royals lead at five positions — second base (Omar Infante), shortstop (Alcides Escobar), catcher (Salvador Perez) and two of the three outfield spots (Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon). Two weeks ago, the Royals led at eight positions.
