At the Wednesday Cincinnati City Council meeting, Mayor John Cranley introduced something different to the proceedings.

Holding a baseball, Cranley explained the Baseball Across the Region celebration.

"This baseball across the region will touch hundreds of hands as it makes stops into our unique neighborhoods, schools, nonprofits, businesses and attractions," Cranley said.

The ball is passed around different parts of the region, in a ceremony that stems from the Olympic Torch passing, according to a press release from the city.
