There has been some uncertainty regarding the status of injured University of Cincinnati basketball player Ge'Lawn Guyn, and UC head coach Mick Cronin said that Guyn probably will not return to the team.

"I've given him his release," Cronin said, in an interview with The Enquirer. "If he decides to graduate and transfer, that's up to him."

Ge'Lawn Guyn has been granted his release from the UC basketball team.

Guyn, a senior guard from Lexington, Ky., has not been with the Bearcats for most of the season. Guyn started UC's first two games and averaged 3.5 points per game but has not played since, after suffering an injury to his right pinky finger during practice.

"He hasn't been with the team since Christmas," Cronin said. "He is focused on graduating. In the second semester he has just focused on academics."

Guyn played three full years with UC before this season. Guyn started all 34 games last year and averaged a career high 4.5 points per game. Guyn averaged just 3.1 points per game in his UC career, but he figured to play a key role again this season.

"He and I remain close," Cronin said. "If he decides to graduate and transfer, that would allow him to go somewhere else and play right away."

Guyn could not immediately be reached for comment.

MORMAN STILL OUT: Redshirt freshman guard Deshaun Morman remains suspended, Cronin said.

"No change in his status," said Cronin, who declined further comment. Morman has missed UC's last three games.
