Fairfax police say a chase that reached speeds greater than 70 mph ended with a violent crash into an embankment on Red Bank Road Friday night.

After a man was arrested, he told police his 2-year-old son was in the back seat of the car.

Tamon Seldon, 24, of Forest Park, was placed in the Hamilton County Justice Center Friday night after his arrest in the 3300 block of Red Bank Road around 8 p.m.

The pursuit began when Seldon fled police after receiving signals to pull over from a Fairfax police officer, documents state. Police said that the chase reached speeds faster than 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.

The chase came to an end after Seldon crossed a double yellow line into a blind curve, lost control of his vehicle, swerved off the roadway, struck a tree and ended up crashed over an embankment, according to court records.

Seldon was charged with two counts of endangering children, failure to comply, trafficking in drugs, failure to control and window tint violations after his arrest.

Police recovered a baggie under the child's car seat with a gray substance that tested positive for heroin, reports state. Police say they also found $400 on Seldon with a clear plastic bag with a corner torn off normally used to package drugs for sale.

Seldon was arraigned in Hamilton County Municipal Court Saturday morning.
