Police arrest Shell shooting suspect
A man accused of opening fire outside of a Shell gas station on Reading Road on May 13 was arrested Friday.
Rayshawn Herald, 22, was arrested and jailed into the Hamilton County Justice Center at 4:41 p.m. Friday.
He was charged with discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, felonious assault, carrying concealed weapons and having weapons under disability.
Video footage shows Herald shooting a gun in front of a Shell gas station at the corner of Reading Road and McGregor Avenue around 2 p.m. May 13, according to police.
Herald has a history of violence and has been on the cops' radar for a while, said District 4 Captain Maris Herold.
Herald was incarcerated in 2011 for drug possession and trafficking in cocaine. He also had a felonious assault charge in 2011 that was dismissed.
Police said Herald was aiming for another gunman when shots broke out at the busy intersection.
Instead, bullets hit a Metro bus and shattered a window. A bullet also went into the Shell gas station.
Herald's bond was set at $230,000 in court Saturday morning. He is due to appear in court again June 8.
