Residents of an apartment complex on Beechmont Road in Mount Washington pulled an unresponsive 11-year-old girl out of a pool Sunday evening. Police said the girl was in critical condition.

An 11-year-old girl is in critical condition Sunday night after two people pulled her out of a pool in Mount Washington.

Emergency officials were first called to an apartment complex in the 2500 block of Beechmont Avenue around 5:50 p.m. Sunday after hearing reports of an 11-year-old girl that was found in the bottom of a pool. When she was pulled from the bottom of the pool, she was unresponsive.

The girl told her brother that she going to see how long she could hold her breath underwater, according to police at the scene.

Residents and police at the scene said the girl did not live at the complex, but was instead visiting friends at the pool.

Police said a woman who lived at apartment complex jumped into the pool, pulled the girl out and began performing CPR with another male resident. The adults were not related to the girl.

"You have to watch your children." said Gina Seaton, a resident of the apartment complex. "I pray that she's OK, but another adult that was there enjoying herself there at the pool had to jump in and save this girl."

Seaton said that children from outside of the complex swim in the pool often.

The girl "had a pulse" but was in critical condition at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Sunday night, according to police at the scene.

The child's family was not available for comment Sunday evening.
