Residents in Covington can help send a message 100 years into the future.

The city’s bicentennial committee, Cov200, is looking for input into the design and contents for a time capsule that will be re-opened in 2115 for the city’s 300th birthday.

Local artist Steven Sander will create the time capsule. The capsule will showcase Covington pop culture, architecture, current events, local awards, community leaders and projects. All items will be linked to 2015 in some way.

The capsule will be placed in the Hellman Lumber Building on 12th Street that’s being renovated into a community arts center.

Anyone interested in providing input can fill out a survey on Cov200’s website, Cov200.org, click on the Legacy Projects link. Anyone with an organization that wants to host “time capsule surveys” can contact Kate Esarey at the Center for Great Neighborhoods at kat@greatneighborhoods.org or 859-547-5552.
