Warmth, sunshine forecast into weekend

Above-average warmth is expected across Greater Cincinnati this week.

Forget spring – summer's in the air in Greater Cincinnati.

High temperatures will continue rising above 80 degrees throughout the work week and even flirt with the first 90-degree day of 2015 on Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

So far this week, the warmth has produced temperatures at least 10 degrees warmer than average.

Tuesday's high of 84 degrees reached well above the Greater Cincinnati norm: Last year, the high on May 5 was 74 degrees. The overall average temperature for that date is 70.

More above-average warmth is expected into the weekend, the weather service forecasts.

The rest of the week :

Wednesday: Mostly sunny. High of about 84 degrees, low of about 60 degrees.

Thursday: Mostly sunny with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms after 5 p.m. High of about 86, low of about 63.

Friday: Mostly sunny and hot. High of about 88 degrees, low of about 64.

Saturday: Partly sunny. High of about 86 degrees, low of about 65.

Sunday: Partly sunny with a chance of rain and thunderstorms starting in the evening. High of about 85, low of about 64.
