Wide receiver A.J. Green (18) and cornerback Adam Jones (24) tangle up on a pass down field on day three of training camp at the Cincinnati Bengals training facility in downtown Cincinnati,

Injuries

PUP/NFI list: LB Vontaze Burfict (knee), LB Sean Porter (knee), LB Rey Maualuga (NFI/unknown), OL Cedric Ogbuehi (NFI/knee), DL Margus Hunt (back).

Missed portion of practice

Michael Johnson (knee), Wallace Gilberry (hamstring)

Position of Note

DE – Especially once Michael Johnson was lost to a knee injury less than an hour into the day. With Margus Hunt unable to participate, the group was already thin, and then more so when Wallace Gilberry pulled himself out with a hamstring tweak. He said after practice he’ll be fine. Carlos Dunlap and Will Clarke then got most of the work, with linebackers filling in to give them breathers.

Play of the Day

On the first play of the first day that the Bengals corners could press and put their hands on a receiver at the line, Adam Jones squared off against A.J. Green. Green spun out of the contact and broke wide open, eliciting an “Ohhh” from the crowd – and Green made sure to run out the catch to the end zone.

Three up, three down

Up

1. Rookie tight end C.J. Uzomah flashed his athleticism and hands as he stayed in bounds while hauling in a touchdown from AJ McCarron.

2. Rookie linebacker P.J. Dawson got himself into some good positions to make plays in 11-on-11, including picking up a Tyler Eifert fumble and breaking into the backfield for what would have been a tackle for loss.

3. There’s a theme here – rookie Josh Shaw broke quickly on a pass to Green and broke it up, bringing Dre Kirkpatrick off the sidelines in celebration.

Down

1. Johnson going down with a right knee injury less than hour into the day.

2. Three bad quarterback-center exchanges in the 9-on-7 running drills forced Hue Jackson to voice his displeasure.

3. Back-to-back turnovers by the first team offense, the first coming on a Chris Lewis-Harris interception of Andy Dalton and the second on Eifert’s fumble.

Quote of the Day

Will Clarke on Johnson going down: "I think everyone's heart kind of skipped a beat for a second."
