Wish List 2014: 12 people who need your help

The Enquirer
Jared Camacho, 7, has been diagnosed with autism, developmental delay and impulse control disorder. He has severe speech delays as well. Jared does not have any fear or understand what danger means, and doesn't answer questions. He escaped from his home multiple times, so his family needs a fence.

One of our neighbors is a Vietnam veteran with Parkinson's disease who is raising his granddaughters. He cannot work because of his hand tremors, and now his furnace keeps breaking down.

Another is a 6-year-old boy who smiles all the time and loves to hang out with his siblings. He also has cerebral palsy, can't walk and needs a special bicycle to keep up with the other kids.

Since 1986, readers have contributed more than $4 million to the Wish List campaign, an annual partnership between The Enquirer and United Way of Greater Cincinnati.

During this year's Wish List campaign, the Enquirer published 12 of these stories in the paper and on Cincinnati.com.

Help these families — and others like them — this holiday season by donating via the United Way of Greater Cincinnati website: uwgc.org/wishlist

You can also mail a donation to Wish List, P.O. Box 6207, Cincinnati, OH 45206. Do not send cash. Make checks or money orders out to The Wish List.

The United Way distributes 100 percent of your donations to participating social service agencies to fulfill the wishes of the people featured here.

Once those wishes are granted, the leftover funds are distributed among participating agencies to assist clients with similar needs throughout the year.
