Two workers from a Silverton daycare facility are now in custody and facing child endangerment charges.

Stachya Powell, 19, was arrested Wednesday night and jailed at approximately 9 p.m. She was wanted for child endangerment after allegedly striking multiple children Friday at ACCS Early Learning Center at 7140 Montgomery Road.

According to a police incident report, witnesses said Powell struck the children "several times in the head," flung another to the floor and "forcefully grabbed another by the arm."

The alleged incident started after an argument with children regarding a puddle of urine on the ground, records said.

Powell was asked to leave the facility after using foul language when confronted by a supervisor, according to witness statements in police reports.

The supervisor placed the children in other classrooms for their safety, the reports said.

Another daycare worker involved in the same incident was arrested Tuesday.

J'Moni Bonner, 19, allegedly struck a 1-year-old in the head in the same classroom in which Powell allegedly struck children.

Bonner allegedly administered a "corporal punishment style discipline," according to court documents. The 1-year-old child fell to the ground and lay there for a few minutes after being struck, according to court documents.

Bonner's bond was set at $7,500 during a Wednesday court appearance. She was ordered to wear an electronic monitoring unit (EMU).
