A statewide tornado drill in Ohio is scheduled for Friday morning.

The tornado drill is scheduled to begin at 9:50 a.m., according to the National Weather Service. The drill is being pushed back from Wednesday due to the multiple severe weather warnings expected to be in effect.

The drill is part of Ohio's Severe Weather Awareness Week (March 1-7), and sirens will sound in counties across the state. Participants are encouraged to go through tornado-safety exercises during the drill.

The drill also serves as an opportunity to test the sirens, although some counties sound sirens weekly during warm-weather months, according to the weather service.

Outdoor sirens won't be heard in Clermont County, as officials will be testing a new indoor alert system.

As part of the week's activities, Clermont County Emergency Management Agency and Brown County Department of Public Safety will co-host a weather-spotter training course Tuesday. The free course is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. at Mount Orab Middle School at 472 W. Main St.

The Monday release announcing the rescheduling of the tornado drill did not indicate the training course had been rescheduled, although rapid-changing weather is also expected on Tuesday.

Clermont County are asking participants to register with the county EMA at 513-732-7661 or clermontema@clermontcountyohio.gov.
