I-71 at Dana Avenue will be closed all weekend.

Interstate 71 South reopened early on Sunday after a construction project closed a portion of the highway since Friday night.

The southbound lanes of the interstate from Dana Avenue to William Howard Taft were shut down at 10 p.m. Friday and were scheduled to remain closed until 5 a.m. Monday.

However, the stretch of interstate reopened Sunday afternoon, Cincinnati dispatchers confirm.

The closure was the result of a project that involves the dismantling of the Conrail bridge north of the Martin Luther King Drive overpass. Overall, the objective of the project is to create a new, full movement interchange at I-71 and MLK Drive, according to the Ohio Department of Transportation.
