The CSX train that struck a woman crossing the tracks stopped and remained at the scene for more than two hours.

A woman hit by a train in Covington Thursday night has died, the Hamilton County Coroner's Office confirmed.

Lisa Wohlman, 46, of Madisonville, was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in an unknown condition Thursday night, but the coroner's office was notified of her death just before 11:30 p.m.

The CSX railroad company self-reported the incident when one of their freight trains reportedly struck a woman crossing the tracks.

After struggling to identify the victim, it was determined a woman was struck and found unconscious by train operators near the intersection of 43rd Street and Glenn Street at about 9:17 p.m.

Police at the scene said train operators saw the Wohlman crossing the train's path along a stretch of track that is not intended for vehicle or pedestrian crossings. The train operators "laid on the horn, but couldn't stop in time," police at the scene said.
